Ana Alcaina graduated in Translation and Interpreting at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and is a free-lance translator from English into Spanish. In recent years, she has combined her work as a translator with lectures as an English-Spanish translation teacher in several undergraduate and graduate programs of the UAB.
In addition to individual translations, she is a member of Anuvela ® group of translators specializing in translation for various Spanish publishing houses. This innovative initiative has received international attention, and the collective Anuvela ® was invited to present their group work methods at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2007 and at the Salzburg Global Seminar in Salzburg in 2009.
She has translated authors of a wide variety of genres, among them James Baldwin (Egales, 2005), Nancy Mitford (Libros del Asteroide, 2005), Eoin Colfer (Montena, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009) or P. D. James (Ediciones B, 2003), and others like Ken Follett (Plaza y Janés, 2007) or Frederick Forsyth (Plaza y Janés, 2006), the latter with the group of translators Anuvela ®.
